National Relaxation Day
Ah, relaxation… a day to do NOTHING. Yeah, right? Today, August 15, is the day set aside to actually relax.
And that’s the problem, right? Why is it so hard to relax? Am I just speaking for myself here? I don’t think so. We’re all highly stressed- and strung-out these days.
Forced Relaxation?
Maybe today is the day to FORCE yourself to relax. How do you do that, though?
- Clear your schedule. How? (Get someone else to help you so you can take time off).
- Block out two hours on your schedule ahead of time.
- Turn off your cellphone for a couple of hours.
- Read a book.
- Bask in the sunshine and breathe in fresh air.
- Take a stroll on the beach (if you’re lucky to live near a beach).
What’s sad is… the above points are aimed at me. I’ve just returned (two days early) from a scheduled trip to Sanibel, Florida. After two nights and one day, we’d ‘been there, done that.’ We came home early and will probably have to forfeit the ‘paid for’ fourth day! Sigh. You live and learn. Here’s the view from our gulf-front room:
